I’m Amanda Weaver Wong, and welcome to my site.
Working under the name, Alpine Elf Designs, I enjoy making jewellery and handicrafts.
The name is a combination; primarily it is inspired by a deep gratitude for my beloved Austrian grandmother who put me through jewellery school, and also a love of mythical creatures.
I trained in metal craft, but also keenly use a variety of media, including polymer clay which I embellish with paint. I am inspired by folk art, and love Mexican Artisania and Alpine Bauernmalerei. I am also an admirer of Secessionstil (Austrian Art Nouveau) in particular the decorative works of Gustav Klimt, whose painterly effects (gold leaf) seem to have a strong link to jewellery design.
I am also very much inspired by the beauty of nature - the patterns, shapes and colours can all be found in my work (as well as a little Elvish charm).
I try to make my work fun and uplifting, which hopefully brings a smile to all those that wear it.
